  1. Pressure-cook soaked chana dal until soft.
  2. Heat ghee; sauté onions, ginger, chillies.
  3. Add tomato puree; reduce.
  4. Stir in spices and the cooked dal; simmer 10 mins.
  5. Adjust seasoning; finish with ghee.
